Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information whatthegeo.com ("What The Geo", "we", "us") collects when you visit the site and play the games, how it is used, and the choices you have. What The Geo is run by Louis Barbat. If you have a question about this policy, email whatthegeovideos@gmail.com.
The short version
You don't need an account to play, and we never ask for your name or email address. Your game progress and stats are saved only in your own browser. The site shows ads from Google AdSense, and Google and its partners use cookies to serve and measure those ads.
The What The Geo app
The What The Geo app for iPhone and Android has the same daily games. The app shows no ads, uses no tracking or analytics, and does not collect any personal information. Your progress, stats and settings are stored only on your phone, and they are deleted if you delete the app. If you turn on the daily reminder, the notification is scheduled by your phone itself and nothing is sent to us. Links to YouTube or other websites open in a browser, where those sites' own privacy policies apply. The rest of this policy describes the website.
Information saved on your device
The games use your browser's local storage to remember today's progress, your streaks and your stats, so you can close the page and come back. This information stays on your device. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for whatthegeo.com.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet.
- You can turn off personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors' personalized ads at aboutads.info.

Other services the site uses
The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google when a page loads. Like almost every website, our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of visit) to keep the site running and secure. We may also use privacy-friendly analytics to count visits; if we do, they will be listed here.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you, and we don't add you to any mailing list.
What we don't do
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone except the services described above.
Children
The games are suitable for all ages, but the site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR in Europe and privacy laws in US states such as California, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, and to opt out of personalized advertising. Because we hold almost no personal information ourselves, most of these choices are made through the ad settings above or by clearing your browser data. For anything else, email us and we will help.
